Munson Earns National Accreditation for Rectal Cancer Care

Munson’s Cowell Family Cancer Center has earned national accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC)—a designation held by only a select group of hospitals across the country. The accreditation recognizes our program’s strong multidisciplinary team—which includes three fellowship-trained colorectal surgeons, along with dedicated clinical experts—who all work together to provide exceptional, evidence-based care that improves outcomes and quality of life for our patients.

This Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, we encourage you to talk to your primary care provider about colorectal cancer screening, starting at age 45—or earlier if you have a family history of colorectal cancer, a personal history of polyps, or concerning symptoms. Your provider can help determine whether a colonoscopy is recommended and provide a referral.

I have the privilege of caring for patients of all ages, but I’m especially passionate about pediatric care—especially helping our smallest patients feel safe, calm, and heard. I helped develop the kids’ corner in our waiting room to give them a space for play and comfort during what can be a stressful time. We’ve also added several resources to help kids feel as comfortable as possible once they’re in our care to ensure we meet each child where they are."
