Every Box Counts: Narcan® Available Anytime, Anywhere

Naloxone (aka Narcan®) is a lifesaving medication that quickly reverses opioid overdose. In partnership with Harm Reduction Michigan, we've installed 25 outside distribution boxes where free Naloxone/ Narcan® can be accessed 24/7/365.

Carrying Naloxone is an extra layer of protection in the event of an emergency, much like you would an EpiPen for an allergy,” says Dr. Joe Santangelo, Munson Healthcare Chief Medical, Quality, and Safety Officer. “In nearly 40 percent of overdose deaths, someone else was present at the time, so having Naloxone available allows bystanders to easily administer medication through a nasal spray that could save a life.

Empowering our Communities

Munson Healthcare is honored to announce a $15,000 donation to the United Way of Northwest Michigan – a steadfast partner uniting donors, volunteers, and organizational partners to tackle the most pressing issues in our communities. Their efforts impact workforce development, childcare, healthcare, food security, transportation, utility assistance, and the 211 program – a crucial resource, connecting individuals and families to essential services and support when they need it most.

The Gift of Winter Safety

Winter sports can cause serious and life-threatening head injuries. That's why we're proud to support Munson employee Tammie Budrow, founder of the Chill Out for Winter Safety Program that teaches kids how to stay safe on the slopes. Started in honor of Tammie's daughter Carly, Chill Out is now in its 18th season, with the help of Munson team members who provide free winter helmet fittings and helmet giveaways across Northern Michigan. Learn why Tammie started Chill Out and the educational benefits her program brings to our area's kids.

Katie W., BSN, RN-C Is Committed to Healthy Tomorrows

Munson has cared for me in so many ways – as both an employee and as a cancer patient. When I joined the Family Birth Center at Munson’s Cadillac Hospital 10 years ago, I could tell we were a family-centered unit. The ways we care for our patients and each other makes every day feel like home. I cannot imagine being anywhere else.

In 2017, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I chose Munson, who truly advocated for me so I could just focus on getting better. I realized what it feels like to be cared for in every sense of the word. Today, I am committed to providing that same exceptional care so, like me, my patients feel a sense of home."
