The holiday hustle and bustle can take a toll on health and well-being. Did you know that the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day sees the highest spike in cardiac events compared to any other time of year? Increased stress and excitement, more alcohol and rich foods, and less exercise can raise your risk for heart attack, stroke, and other emergencies. Learn the signs of heart attack and stroke to ensure you or a loved one receive prompt care.

Getting Through the Holiday Blues

If you’re dreading the holidays, you are not alone. The season of celebration can intensify memories of lost loved ones and feelings of regret, loneliness, and despair during a time that comes with immense pressure to "mingle and jingle" with family and friends. Whether you’re missing someone special, or feel like you’re missing out, the emotions you’re experiencing are genuine and valid. Finding peace is possible with a little self-compassion and support.

ER Nurse Shelby H. Is Committed to Every Emergency

As a Munson ER Nurse, I have the privilege of connecting with people from all walks of life and supporting them through some of the most unexpected and stressful times of their lives. All acts of service are important to me regardless of how big or small. This may mean bringing a family member who is sleep deprived a cup of coffee, changing a patient's brief, holding a hand throughout a painful procedure, aiding in saving a life, or even just being a listening ear for someone who feels alone. In our fast-paced and often unpredictable environment, my dedication lies in being a steady and reassuring presence for not only my patients, but the families that care about them.”
