Peer Recovery Coaches Bring Unique Experience to Patients
In honor of National Recovery Month, we want to recognize our incredible Peer Recovery Coaches here at Munson. Each of these special coaches offers a unique type of support for our patients in recovery from alcohol, drugs, and other substances.
Not only have these inspiring individuals achieved and maintained their own recovery from substance use disorders – but they bring this lived experience to their roles as Peer Recovery Coaches, serving as close confidants, navigators, advocates, and guides for our patients seeking recovery.

Cowell Family Cancer Center Recognized for Innovative Cancer Therapy
The Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) is recognizing Munson Healthcare's Cowell Family Cancer Center (CFCC) with the Innovator Award for pioneering achievements in improving access, quality, and value in cancer care delivery. CFCC will accept the award during the 2024 ACCC National Oncology Conference in October, where they will be honored for the implementation of a Bispecific T-Cell Engager Therapy Program. Congratulations to the team!

Congratulating Our Latest DAISY Winner
Manistee Hospital recently presented a DAISY Award® for nursing excellence to Micah McKeough, BSN, RN, a dedicated registered nurse in the PACU. She was recognized by her colleagues for her exceptional kindness, profound expertise, leadership, and unwavering commitment to both patients and fellow staff members.
A testament to Micah’s exemplary care comes from the mother of one of her young patients: “My 8-year-old stepson, who has O.D.D., can be challenging. Micah managed him with such skill, keeping him cheerful and well-behaved while we waited for his turn in the OR. The surgery was swift, and we were promptly updated as soon as it was completed.”

Anyone who has ever eaten breakfast or lunch over the last four decades at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City probably knows and has been greeted by the legendary Ty Karns. Each day, working in Food and Nutrition Services, Ty embodies our Values of Positivity and Exceptional Experiences as he cooks, serves, and cares for our communities and coworkers. This month, Ty celebrated 42 years with Munson. Hats off to Ty for his commitment to the health of our community and all of us.
