New ER 'Quick Care Zone' Streamlines Care
To help reduce ER wait times, Munson Medical Center's Emergency Department now offers our Quick Care Zone – a special area that prioritizes patients with non-life-threatening conditions. This designated area provides faster treatment for minor injuries and illnesses while keeping beds available for those with more severe conditions.
While other options such as our Primary Care Clinics, Urgent Care/Walk-in Clinics, and Virtual Urgent Care continue to provide convenient and often more affordable care for minor injuries and illnesses, the Quick Care Zone helps ensure that those who do visit the ER for these conditions are seen as quickly as possible.

New Outpatient Surgery Centers to Open
As part of our commitment to provide patients across Northern Michigan with more close-to-home treatment options, Munson is breaking ground on two new outpatient surgery centers in Cadillac and Gaylord. Both centers will offer a lower-cost option for many surgeries while continuing to provide the high-quality, compassionate care we're known for.
These surgery centers will complement the full range of surgical services offered at both Cadillac and Otsego Memorial Hospitals. The Cadillac location will be at the corner of South Mitchell St. and Franke Rd., where site activity has already started. The Gaylord location will be at 825 N. Center Ave., with site activity beginning this fall. Stay tuned for more information as we near the opening dates.

Drs. Rachel and Charles VandenBerg Are Committed to Patients
“From the time we started dating in high school, our journey through education and into healthcare has been entirely entwined. After marrying, we both moved away to Missouri for medical school, and though we were in different programs, we worked closely together, especially during our residencies.
“We are most committed to our community and our patients. Forming and maintaining relationships with our patients is very enriching – not just for us, but for them. Working for a non-profit organization like Munson is important to us because of the ways our healthcare system reinvests in our communities, including leading edge medical facilities and equipment that help to enhance how we serve our patients, including here in Manistee.”

First Moments, All Smiles
“Our experience from start to finish at Munson’s Cadillac OB/GYN and Cadillac Hospital’s Labor and Delivery was nothing short of exceptional. The professionalism of the staff gave us confidence every step of the way. Every team member understood our needs, and they communicated clearly and in a way that was often relatable.
Our labor team operated with great enthusiasm and verbal direction to ensure our experience was smooth and memorable. The doctor who delivered our son [MaKenzie Tremp, MD] took every measure to provide the kind of service we don’t think we would’ve received elsewhere. The post-delivery care was also second to none. The knowledge, hands-on help, and seeing how much this team truly loves their jobs made us feel at ease in knowing there isn’t another labor department that could provide such parallel services.”
