CLINICAL UPDATES
New Workflow: How to Request Radiology Images
Munson Healthcare (MHC) Radiology has transferred the process for patients and providers to request radiology images (e.g., x-rays, MRI) to Vital Record Control (VRC)/ Health Information Magnement (HIM) department. This transfer will improve efficiencies, turnaround times, and security as well as reduce the costly practice of burning CDs.
MHC will retain the ability to burn a CD, but when able, providers are encouraged to use MHC's digital platforms (i.e., Ambra, Powershare) to obtain radiology images. An office email may be needed to utilize these platforms.
Radiology Imaging Requests:
- If patient is being transferred to another acute care site, contact the MHC Patient Transfer and Placement Center at 231-392-0777.
- For all other requests, complete and fax Form #3161 to Vital Records Control (VRC) at 312-836-7919 or call 231-252-0652 for more information.
For details on this important process change, read the FAQs.
For questions, please contact Branden Hill, System Director Radiology Services, 231-935-7941.
Reminder: Collaborative Practice and Prescriptive Authority Delegation Agreements
New changes went into effect August 1, 2023. Practice managers will now be responsible for ensuring that practice agreements are completed, on file in the office, and updated as needed. Learn more about what you need to know by visiting the Practice Resources page of our For Providers website.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Questions for Patients
To comply with a federal requirement, Munson Healthcare began collecting patient data on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). This change promotes diversity of all our patients and safe patient care as these questions remove any assumptions.
Patients 18+ will be asked to share their self-described sexual orientation and their current gender identity, which they can choose not to disclose. For more information, refer to the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Question Guide for All Staff.
