OB/GYN Offers New Treatment for Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Research shows about one-third of women experience a prolapse of the vagina and bladder in their lifetime. Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital, through the expertise of OB/GYN Stacey Sensor, DO, FACOOG, is now offering a new minimally invasive procedure to help women suffering from prolapse.

“We’re excited to offer the women of northern Michigan what is called robotic sacrocolpopexy,” Dr. Sensor said. “This is an innovative, minimally invasive way to allow women to regain control of their body and allow for a more active and confident lifestyle.”

Symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse include:

  • A feeling of pressure or heaviness in the pelvis or lower back
  • A bulge or lump coming from the vagina
  • Sudden urges to urinate or leakage
  • Constipation
  • Pain during intercourse

CLINICAL UPDATE

Collaborative Practice and Prescriptive Authority Delegation Agreements

Munson Healthcare has completed a review and update of Advanced Practice Providers (APP) collaborative practice and prescriptive authority agreements to meet the Michigan and Federal guidelines.

As a result, all APP agreements should be updated so that they are current and compliant.

New changes will go into effect on August 1, 2023. One of the biggest changes is practice managers will now be responsible for ensuring that practice agreements are completed, on file in the office, and updated as needed. Learn more about what you need to know by visiting the Practice Resources page of our For Providers website.
