Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for critical care specialists, pulmonologists, intensivists, hospitalists, infectious disease specialists, and all members of the multidisciplinary team involved in the care for patients who have or are at risk for pneumonia and sepsis.

The goal of this activity is to improve clinicians' ability to make a timely and accurate diagnosis for patients with pneumonia and sepsis.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Latest updates and advances in available technologies for the rapid diagnosis of sepsis and pneumonia
  • Demonstrate improved competence associated with
    • The timely and appropriate utilization of rapid technologies to establish a diagnosis of sepsis and/or pneumonia
    • Clinicians' ability to accurately interpret the results of rapid tests to inform clinical decision-making in the treatment of sepsis and pneumonia
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to 
    • Foster development of best practices for the implementation of antibiotic stewardship strategies in the management of sepsis and pneumonia
